EANO Welcomes new President: Roberta Rudà

The EANO Meeting 2026 in Rome has come to a close, and what a congress it was! Over several days, neuro-oncology colleagues from across Europe and beyond gathered for inspiring sessions, lively discussions, and valuable new connections. Thank you to everyone who joined us, and to the speakers, chairs, and organizers whose contributions made the program so rewarding.

The meeting also marked an important moment for our society. Following a wonderful Rome Meeting 2026, we are delighted to welcome Roberta Rudà as EANO's new President.

At the same time, we want to express our heartfelt thanks to Michael Platten, who now steps down as President. Under his leadership, EANO has continued to grow as a community for everyone working in neuro-oncology. We are deeply grateful for his dedication, commitment, and the energy he invested in our society. Thank you, Michael, for everything you have done for EANO!

About Roberta
Dr. Roberta Rudà is Professor of Neurology at the University of Turin, where she has been active in Neuro-Oncology for 25 years. Since 2022, she has chaired the Division of Neuro-Oncology in the University's Department of Neuroscience and coordinates the Multidisciplinary Brain Tumor Board at the City of Health and Science Hospital/University of Turin.
She served on the EANO Executive Board from 2016 to 2024 and has led two major European guidelines, published in Neuro-Oncology: the EANO Guideline on Ependymal Tumors, and the EANO-EURACAN-SNO Guideline on Rare Glial, Glioneuronal and Neuronal Tumors.
From 2017 to 2022, she was President of the Italian Association of Neuro-Oncology (AINO), and since 2022 she has co-chaired the Neuro-Oncology Panel of the European Academy of Neurology (EAN). She is also active in several international RANO groups (Seizures, Liquid Biopsy, Leptomeningeal Diseases, RANO Resect and PET-RANO) and leads the Ependymoma subgroup within the EORTC Brain Tumor Group's Glio-Rare study.
Her research centers on IDH mutant gliomas, rare brain tumors (especially ependymomas), and brain tumor-related epilepsy, with additional interests in translational research, functional neuroimaging, and neurological complications of cancer. She has authored more than 250 papers in high-impact journals and has served as Principal Investigator on numerous national and international clinical trials.
