The European Association of Neuro-Oncology (EANO) and the Society for Neuro-Oncology (SNO) are pleased to announce the inaugural EANO-SNO Joint Meeting on Pediatric Neuro-Oncology, to be held June 24–26, 2027, at the JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort in Miami, Florida.

The meeting marks an important milestone in the evolution of international pediatric neuro-oncology education and collaboration. Building upon the success of the biennial SNO Pediatric Neuro-Oncology Meeting, which was first established in 2011, the 2027 meeting will be the first to be jointly organized by SNO and EANO.

As an official collaboration between the two leading neuro-oncology societies, the EANO-SNO Joint Meeting on Pediatric Neuro-Oncology will bring together clinicians, researchers, scientists, trainees, and allied health professionals from around the world to share advances in basic, translational, and clinical research aimed at improving outcomes for children and adolescents with central nervous system tumors.

The meeting will continue on a biennial schedule, alternating between North America and Europe, reflecting the global nature of the pediatric neuro-oncology community and the shared commitment of SNO and EANO to advancing education and research worldwide.

“This partnership is a natural progression of the strong collaboration that has developed between SNO and EANO over the past several years,” said Eva Galanis, MD, President of the Society for Neuro-Oncology. “Our organizations recently joined forces to launch Neuro-Oncology Pediatrics, a journal dedicated exclusively to advancing pediatric neuro-oncology research and education. The success of that joint endeavor demonstrated the value of combining our expertise and resources to serve the global pediatric neuro-oncology community. Expanding our partnership to include this meeting was a logical next step that we believe will benefit pediatric and AYA patients with brain tumors and their families around the world.”

Michael Platten, MD, President of the European Association of Neuro-Oncology, echoed this sentiment. “The launch of Neuro-Oncology Pediatrics highlighted the shared vision of EANO and SNO to advance pediatric neuro-oncology through global collaboration,” said Dr. Platten. “The inaugural EANO-SNO Joint Meeting on Pediatric Neuro-Oncology represents an exciting new chapter in that partnership. Together, we are creating a truly international forum that will strengthen connections among investigators, clinicians, and trainees across continents. We look forward to the first joint meeting in Miami in 2027 and to welcoming our colleagues to Europe for the next edition in 2029.”

The 2027 meeting will continue the tradition of excellence established by previous SNO Pediatric Neuro-Oncology Meetings while expanding opportunities for participation and engagement across the global neuro-oncology community. The program will feature state-of-the-art scientific sessions, educational presentations, abstract-driven research, multidisciplinary discussions, and networking opportunities focused on the most pressing challenges and promising developments in pediatric neuro-oncology.

The EANO Educational Committee invites you to submit a bid to host the EANO Seminars 2028 in locations that usually do not host EANO Meetings or EANO Seminars. 

EANO Seminars is an educational event that aims to provide an update on the recent advances in the pathogenesis and management of CNS tumors with particular attention devoted to the application in the clinical practice. It is aimed to attract scientists, physicians and healthcare professionals involved in diagnosis and treatment of brain tumors, and is aimed mainly at junior staff from all over Europe.

The EANO Educational Committee will review all applications and submit its recommendation to the Executive Board for final approval. All applicants will be notified of their application status by the end of December 2026.

Dr. Roberta Rudà is Professor of Neurology at the University of Turin. She has been involved in Neuro-Oncology for up to 25 years.

From 2022 is the Chair of the Division of Neuro-Oncology of the Department of Neuroscience at the University of Turin. She is the Coordinator of the Multidisciplinary Brain Tumor Board, City of Health and Science Hospital/University of Turin.

Professor Rudà has been member of the EANO Executive Board from 2016 to 2024. She has leaded two European Guidelines: the EANO Guideline on Ependymal tumors and the EANO-EURACAN-SNO Guideline on Rare glial, glioneuronal and neuronal tumors (both published in Neuro-Oncology).

From 2017 to 2022 she held the position of  President of the Italian Association of Neuro-Oncology (AINO) and from 2022 is the Co-Chair of the Panel of Neuro-Oncology of EAN (European Academy of Neurology).

She is Member of the RANO Groups on Seizures, Liquid biopsy, Leptomeingeal diseases, Resect and PET-RANO. Moreover, she is member of the Brain Tumor Group of EORTC, where is leading the Ependymoma subgroup within the EORTC 2013 Glio-Rare study.

The major research areas include: primary brain  tumors with particular interest in lower grade gliomas, rare brain tumors (in particular ependymomas) and brain tumor-related epilepsy. Translational research, functional neuroimaging and neurological complications of cancers (in particular neoplastic meningitis) have been a focus of interest as well.

Professor Rudà has been Principal Investigator in several national and international clinical trials.

She has published more than 250 papers in highly impacted Journals, and several Chapters in international books.

EANO Welcomes Roberta Rudà as President Elect. Her presidency will begin after the Rome Meeting 2026.

Neuro-Oncology Pediatrics is now live! This new open-access, interdisciplinary journal is dedicated to advancing the field of pediatric and adolescent/young adult (AYA) neuro-oncology. It publishes high-quality basic, translational, and clinical research spanning the full spectrum of brain, spine, and peripheral nerve tumors affecting children and AYAs, including studies on late effects, survivorship, and quality of life.

The journal’s scope reflects the breadth and complexity of the field, welcoming work that addresses tumor biology, innovative diagnostics, precision medicine, novel therapeutics, supportive care, neuroimaging, epidemiology, clinical trials, and health equity. Neuro-Oncology Pediatrics aims to be a global forum where multidisciplinary teams can share discoveries that directly improve patient outcomes.

The fourth title in the Neuro-Oncology family of journals, Neuro-Oncology Pediatrics, is published by Oxford University Press and is co-owned by the European Association of Neuro-Oncology (EANO) and the Society for Neuro-Oncology (SNO). The editorial leadership team includes representatives from the three charter members of the World Federation of Neuro-Oncology Societies – the Asian Society for Neuro-Oncology (ASNO), EANO, and SNO – ensuring a truly international perspective.

The European Association of Neuro-Oncology (EANO) and the Society for Neuro-Oncology (SNO) are delighted to jointly announce the appointment of Professor Wolfgang Wick, MD, as the new Editor-in-Chief of Neuro-Oncology Advances.

Launched in 2019 as a joint initiative between EANO and SNO, Neuro-Oncology Advances has established itself as a key open-access journal in our field. With an Impact Factor of 4.1 in 2024 and a growing global readership, the journal continues to thrive as a platform for high-quality basic, translational, and clinical research. We warmly thank Professor Gelareh Zadeh for her exceptional leadership over the past seven years. Under her guidance, the journal has seen impressive growth in scope, visibility, and impact.

Professor Wick’s appointment marks a major milestone for Neuro-Oncology Advances. With his deep editorial experience, global reputation, and collaborative spirit, we are confident he will further elevate the journal’s scientific impact, global reach, and innovative direction. We look forward to working with him in continuing to advance the visibility, excellence, and influence of Neuro-Oncology Advances as a cornerstone publication in our field.
