AIFA Mandatory Procedure for Pharmaceutical Companies

Any Italian or foreign pharmaceutical company that holds a marketing authorisation in Italy (AIC), or that markets medicines in Italy on the basis of an agreement with the respective marketing authorisation holder, and that intends to organise or contribute to the organisation of a congress, conference or meeting on topics related to the use of medicines, must submit a communication request to the Italian Medicines Agency (AIFA). This request is required in order to obtain authorisation for the proposed educational meeting and to allow the Agency to verify its strictly technical-scientific nature, pursuant to Article 124 of Legislative Decree 219/2006.
