The Hofburg lies in the heart of Vienna. The best way to reach it is by public transport. Two underground stations (U3 Volkstheater & U3 Herrengasse) as well as bus and tram stops are all within walking distance
Arriving by air (Vienna Airport)
Multiple transfer options are available when travelling from the airport: The non-stop City Airport Train (CAT) service will take you to the centre of Vienna in 15 minutes, and it only takes 25 minutes on the standard rail service (ÖBB). The airport express bus connects major transport hubs and a number of hotels. You can also reach the congress center by taxi in about 30 minutes (travel time may very depending on the traffic situation).
Arriving by train
Vienna has excellent rail collections to all major European cities. The closest metro stations to Hofburg Vienna are called Herrengasse and Volkstheater, both alocated on the U3 (orange line). You can travel to the venue quickly and easily from the city’s stations using public transportation:
- If you arrive at Vienna Hauptbahnhof station, please take the U1 underground line to Stephansplatz station (approx. 5-10 minutes). From there, you can either walk (approx. 10 min) or change to underground line U3 for one more stop to Herrengasse station.
- If you arrive at Westbahnhof station, you can take the underground line U3 directly to Volkstheater station (approx. 15 min) and use the exit leading to "Ring".
