The abstracts have been reviewed and allocated to the scientific programme.

ACCEPTANCE AND SELECTION OF ABSTRACTS


All submitted abstracts will be reviewed by members of the Scientific Committee and authors will be notified about the status of their submission via email.

EANO meetings has currently 2 types of acceptance for submissions:
- oral presentation
- poster presentation

Accepted abstracts will be published on the website of Neuro-Oncology on September 9, 2021.
There will not be a printed abstract book.


REGISTRATION

At least the presenting author of an abstract is obliged to register and pay the registration fee for the virtual EANO Meeting 2021 taking place from September 25 to 26 until June 23, 2021. In the event of non-fulfillment the abstract will be withdrawn by the organisers.

Important note:
If you are a presenting author, please register using your personalised registration link that will be sent to you in a separate email after you received the abstract notification email. This is to guarantee that the access data is correctly linked between the registration system, the abstract submission system and the virtual meeting platform.

Young Investigator Scholarships and Congress Awards

One of the goals of the European Association of Neuro-Oncology is to broaden the network of neuro-oncology and to support neuro-oncologists in their (inter-) national research projects.

We are proud to be able to offer 2021 several grant and award opportunities: 


Young Investigator Scholarships

The EANO encourages the participation of its young members in the EANO 2021 Meeting as well as the presentation of their research work. The EANO Investigator Scholarship facilitates young clinicians and investigators as well as allied health professionals and nurses from all over the world to present an abstract during the EANO 2021 Meeting.

To make this happen EANO is waiving the registration fee to the EANO 2021 Meeting and Educational Day, for outstanding research by young scientist members contributing to the EANO meeting.

  • Young Investigator Scholarship for Outstanding Science for EANO members
  • Young Investigator Scholarship for Outstanding Science for EANO allied health professionals / nurse members

All young scientists submitting abstracts are encouraged to apply by ticking the corresponding box during the abstract submission. The nominee must be first author of an abstract submitted, graduate student/resident/fellow within his/her first five years of his/her initial clinical or academic appointment (this does not apply for allied health professionals, nurses) and not older than 40 years. The evaluation will be done by the respective committee.

The Scholarship recipients will be contacted via email.  

Application deadline is April 26th, 2021.

 

EANO Congress Awards

EANO prizes four EANO Congress Awards, which will be awarded by the Scientific Committee for the best oral presentations based on the submitted abstracts.

The recipients receive a plaque, a certificate and free registration to the next congress.

General Information on Abstract Submission

 

REGARDING YOUR ABSTRACT

Please read carefully all the instructions available in the section "Submission Steps" before preparing your abstract.

  • Type your abstract in a common Word Processor (e.g. MS Word). Please save a copy of the file with the abstract text only (no title or authors). This file can then be used for a „file upload“ (most convenient way of submission). Special characters are widely supported.
  • For information concerning the abstract format and structure please see the SAMPLE ABSTRACT and the section "Submission Steps".

REGARDING YOUR SUBMISSION

Please see the section "Online Submission Portal" for detailed information and instructions.

  • The creation of a user account in the online submission system is required for the submission of an abstract. The account only needs to be created once and can be re-used for future abstract submission.
  • Attention: All correspondence regarding the acceptance of your abstract will be emailed to the address given by you during the submission process. Please provide a working email address.
  • Eventually, you will see a summary of your submission in the last step (“Review my work“), which you may print. Your abstract should now have a green “complete” icon in the welcome area.

CORRECTIONS / WITHDRAWAL OF ABSTRACTS

  • You can edit or delete your abstract in the online submission system until the deadline of April 26th, 2021.
  • If you wish to delete your abstract after the deadline, a written request to withdraw must be submitted to Opens window for sending emaileano-meetings@eaon.eu
  • You may print the summary page for your records. The system also has an e-mail confirmation feature. Simply click the appropriate link on the summary page and fill in your email address(es) in the appropriate box.

PREFERRED PRESENTATION FORMAT

  • During submission, authors select whether they prefer oral or poster presentation.
  • Please indicate your preference, especially in case you do not want your abstract to be selected for an oral presentation.

ACCEPTANCE / REJECTION OF ABSTRACTS

  • Abstracts containing no results or structure will be rejected.
  • Abstracts with the obvious goal of advertising corporate products or services, will be rejected.
  • All submitted abstracts will be anonymised and reviewed by the Scientific Programme Committee.
  • Authors will be notified in due course whether their abstract has been accepted.
  • Notifications on final assignment (oral presentation or poster) will also follow in due course.

Online Submission Portal

TECHNICAL INFORMATION

  • For optimum results when using the Online Submission System, it is recommended that you use one of the following browsers: Google Chrome 33 or higher, Internet Explorer 8.0 or higher, Mozilla FireFox 16 or higher, Safari 5.0 or higher.
  • Please note that in rare cases you may encounter an issue copy/pasting from Word for Mac, triggering an error message that your title cannot exceed 1,000 characters. In this case please reload the page and either type or copy/paste the title from a plain text application.
  • JavaScripts and cookies need to be enabled in your browser. Instructions to enable cookies are given on the login page.

ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT - PERSONAL INFORMATION

  • The creation of a user account is required for the submission of an abstract.
  • Please create only one account per submitting author. The system stores your information. If you choose to submit more than one abstract you will not need to create another account. See „Returning users“.
  • After you created the account, the system will display a password and username that will allow you to return and edit, delete or withdraw your abstract at a later stage.
  • Personal information can be edited if necessary by clicking the „Profile“ icon (e.g. in case of an address change). Attention: All correspondence regarding the acceptance of your abstract will be emailed to the address given by you in the „author section“. Please provide a working email address.

First time users:

  1. When entering the online submission portal, click on „Create new account“. Fill in all required fields and save your personal information by clicking “Save & Continue” in the online form.
  2. Please remember to create a password not being used for other logins (i.e. bank accounts, market places etc.)
  3. Once you have logged into the submission portal, you will be directed to the abstract submission site for EANO 2021. Click on the “+New” button to start with your abstract submission. If you cannot see this button, please make sure you are located in the tab labelled “submissions”.
  4. When clicking the “+New” button a new tab will open in your browser. Follow step by step the instructions for submission.
  5. At the end of the process, you will see a summary of your submission in the last step (“Review my work“), which you may print. Your abstract should now show as complete in the submission site.

Returning users, continuing an aborted submission or editing an abstract already submitted:

  1. Login with the username (your email address) and password that you received when creating the account.
  2. Locate the abstract and click on the displayed abstract title to make changes or complete the abstract.
  3. Continue your submission or click on desired menu item you wish to change.
  4. Changes can be made until the submission deadline.

Returning users, submitting another abstract:

  1. Login with the username and password that you received when creating the account.
  2. Click on the “+New” button to start with a new submission.
  3. Carefully follow the step-by-step instructions.

CORRECTIONS / WITHDRAWAL OF ABSTRACTS

  • You can edit or delete your abstract in the online submission system until the deadline of April 26th, 2021.
  • Titles of submitted abstracts are displayed in the Welcome Area, together with the information on whether the submission is complete or incomplete. To edit one of these abstracts, simply click on the title.
  • The submission system stores the information in „real time“ in a database. The moment you reach the „Summary“ at the end of the submission process your abstract has been received. However you will still be able to come back and make modifications until the deadline.
  • You may print the summary page for your records. The system also has an e-mail confirmation feature. Simply click the appropriate link on the summary page and fill in your email address(es) in the appropriate box.

Submission Steps

Once you have looged into the submission portal with your account, click on the “+New” button to start with your abstract submission.

Read through the affirmations carefully and confirm them.

SUBMISSION STEP 1: TITLE

  • In the title, please use capital letters ONLY where necessary (e.g. ‚Detection of two novel large mutations in SLC7A9 by semi-quantitative fluorescent multiplex PCR‘).
  • Please DO NOT format the title in bold, underline, or enter line breaks. Use italics only where required by nomenclature.
  • The title is limited to 25 words!

SUBMISSION STEP 2: AFFIRMATION / ALLOCATION / TYPE

1. Confirm the affirmation regarding the registration.

2. Please select whether the content of your abstract should be part of the EANO Main Meeting or patient related sessions (focus for nurses and AHPs).

EANO MAIN MEETING: Friday, September 24 - Sunday, September 26
Your abstract will be presented as a poster in the Poster Sessions, or as a talk during the Oral Sessions of the EANO Meeting.

Patient related (NURSE/AHP) SESSIONS: Thursday, September 23
Your abstract will be presented as a poster in the Poster Sessions, or as a talk during the sessions with patient related content of the EANO Meeting.

3. Please indicate whether your abstract is a regular, encore or trial in progress abstract. For an encore abstract please fill in where the abstract has been published before (journal name, issue, name of conference…) and provide a rationale for the resubmission.

4. Please indicate whether you would be willing to present your work virtually in case the meeting format requires a change to a virtual conference due to COVID-19 restrictions.

SUBMISSION STEP 3: TOPIC

Please take care to allocate your submission to a suitable topic. The respective topic needs to be selected from a list.
Please select only ONE topic that refers to the main subject of your abstract.

SUBMISSION STEP 4: KEYWORDS

  • Please enter up to 3 keywords describing your work (required).

SUBMISSION STEP 5: AUTHORS

  • No more than 10 authors can be listed.
  • A maximum of 2 institutions per author is allowed.
  • The order of the authors as well as the name of the presenting author (marked in green) can be edited during the submission process.

SUBMISSION STEP 6: ABSTRACT TEXT

The abstract body should be structured as follows:

-  Background
-  Material and Methods
-  Results
-  Conclusion

  • The text cannot exceed 2500 characters without spaces (350-400 words), excluding title and authors (minimum 500 characters).
  • The abstract must be submitted in good English.
  • No tables, no graphics or illustrations are allowed.
  • No literature must be cited.
  • The text may be typed in or copy/pasted from an existing document.
  • Special characters are widely supported.
  • Support/Disclosure: Enter the source(s) of contributed support and/or grant numbers at the end of the abstract text section.

SUBMISSION STEP 7: PRESENTATION PREFERENCE

Please indicate your preference in this step, especially in case you do not want your abstract to be selected as oral presentation.

SUBMISSION STEP 8: YOUNG INVESTIGATOR TRAVEL

Please indicate if you want to apply for a Young Investigator Travel Scholarship and select the respective Scholarship.

SUBMISSION STEP 9: SUBMISSION SUMMARY

  • The summary page will display all information related to your abstract.
  • Please make sure you print the summary page for your records.
  • The system also has an e-mail confirmation feature. Simply click the appropriate link on the summary page and fill in your email address(es) in the appropriate box.
