Fellowship: Clinical or research

This type of grant is for clinical or research projects with the aim to improve treatment for research in neuro-oncology and brain tumor patients. The purpose, goal and content of the project have to be clearly defined. Typically these projects last 6 to 12 months, and have to be performed in an institution (clinic or laboratory) with the aim to set up a prolonged collaboration between different laboratories, clinics or centres. The project can be clinical as well as in basic or translational science. As a novel incentive also the host department can receive reimbursement for the additional costs.
Maximal amount of € 25000,- , of which € 20.000,- is for the applicant and € 5000,- for the receiving institution.

Grant: Educational visit

This grant will compensate for costs of travel and living during a short stay in a brain tumor center or neuro-oncologic center, clinic or research facility in a foreign country. Typically these visits have the aim to improve knowledge, set up a collaboration, start a clinical trial, gain education or exchange facilities. All people involved in care, management , treatment and research for neuro-oncologic and brain tumor patients can apply. (nurses , students, investigators, doctors. managers etc).
Duration of stay up to 6 weeks. Maximal reimbursement: € 3000,-

This grant facilitates young clinicians and investigators to present an abstract or poster during the congress of the EANO held every two years.
The grant covers the attendance of the congress, travel fee and accommodation during the congress. For all travel grant recipients a reception with the president will take place.

Position: Senior Research Fellow in Experimental Neuro-oncology

There is a vacancy for a Senior Research Fellow, to join the Cellular & Molecular Neuro-oncology Research Group of the Institute of Biomedical & Biomolecular Sciences to work on a programme of research into the scientific approach to novel therapeutic strategies and delivery systems for brain tumours. The programme will include specific studies on cancer stem cells and the invasive behaviour of glioma cells. The work will be carried out under the supervision of Professor Geoff Pilkington housed within the School of Pharmacy & Biomedical Sciences. We are looking for a candidate who already has an established record of published research in the field of experimental neuro-oncology. The successful candidate will be responsible to Professor Pilkington & will work alongside other Senior Lecturers/Senior Research Fellows, taking responsibility in the co-mentorship of junior postdoctoral researchers as well as PhD students.
